Literature
The lekythos, or oil jar, comes in various forms, both tall and squat. This handsome example falls somewhere in between and features a gourd-like ribbed finish. Although it belongs to the broader Campanian corpus of black-glazed wares, examples of this exact shape are rare, with a close comparison found in the Princeton University Art Museum acc no.. y1937-256.
