Literature

Messapian refers to material culture produced in ancient Messapia, in the Salento peninsula of southern Italy, a region which now includes Lecce and parts of Brindisi and Taranto. Originally the forms were highly Italic in nature (such as the distinctive trozella), but by the 4th century, they had become heavily influenced by Attic pottery.
