This kylix of type B is an exceptionally large and rare example. The tondo shows a woman, probably a Maenad, running to the right but looking back to her left. She is depicted wearing a chiton and a mantle over her shoulders, the drapery with little dotted details incised into the glaze. Her left hand is extended forward, and she holds a wreath in her right hand. She wears another wreath in her hair, with long tresses descending on to her chest and along her shoulder. There is an imitation inscription in the field, which is framed by a black band.

The vibrant image of a dancing woman in black figure emerging from a minimalist red central tondo, creates an arresting contrast with the large expanse of black glazed bowl surrounding it. The vessel is an elegant stemmed drinking cup, finely potted and with minimal restoration.
