Lorne Thyssen-Bornemisza

One of the world’s great private collectors of artwork from the ancient world, Baron Lorne Thyssen-Bornemisza continues his family’s passion for collecting. His father, Baron Hans Heinrich, founded the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid in 1992, which now displays over 1,600 Old Master paintings from his private collection.

Lorne Thyssen’s founding of Kallos Gallery blends his connoisseurship in art with his passionate, demonstrated support of classical and archaeological research. He funds several institutional archaeological excavations, and has endowed courses and research positions at Oxford University and the Open University, and numerous scholarships worldwide to broaden access to education about the classical world. He has a BA Honours Degree in Classical Studies.

About Us

Kallos is ancient Greek for ‘Beauty’. The name is our touchstone for every artwork we offer at the gallery.

Founded in 2014 by Baron Lorne Thyssen-Bornemisza, Kallos Gallery is a London gallery specialising in antiquities and ancient art. We sell only the most extraordinary pieces from Antiquity, offering Ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Western Asiatic and European masterpieces. Each artwork has been carefully chosen for its outstanding artistic merit, cultural significance, and provenance.

We make it our business to ensure that our clientele enjoy the impeccable personal service and professional expertise they expect, and that their collections deserve.

In line with the educational priorities of our founder Baron Lorne Thyssen-Bornemisza, through our events and exhibitions, and our educational outreach programme, we are dedicated to making Kallos Gallery a forum for communicating important study and insight into the ancient world.
