Amaranthine Exhibition Launch

Kallos Gallery opened Amaranthine: Flowers of Hellenic Adornment with a lavish reception on Tuesday, 6 October, just one week in advance of Frieze London, Frieze Masters, and PAD. The gallery was bedecked with stunning floral displays from Paul Thomas Flowers that included numerous trailing amaranths: an opulent backdrop against which the ancient jewellery shone and glittered.  The elegant atmosphere was further lifted by beautiful music played by harpist Olivia Jageurs, and guests were treated to delicious canapés prepared by CHANCE Organisation.

“I wanted to congratulate you on the exhibition. It is a stunning space and the pieces on show were beautifully curated.” – A guest

“A very enticing exhibition and the artefacts were beautiful.” – A guest

The opening reception was the first in a series of events to run throughout the autumn for the exhibition. To begin with, we look forward to welcoming Dr. Jack Ogden, a world-leading expert in ancient jewellery, for a lecture on 29 October. Entitled From the Meticulous to the Sublime: The Greek Jeweller at Work, Dr. Odgen’s talk will explore in detail what makes the three jewellery pieces in the Amaranthine exhibition so extraordinary, with special insight into the techniques and refined skills necessary, thousands of years ago, to craft such intricate works of art.
